Penile trauma may be blunt or penetrating, and imaging is most often performed in the setting of blunt trauma. To that end, we present illustrative cases, focusing on the imaging findings and the role of each imaging method. The objective of this pictorial essay is to review the main penile emergencies. Because computed tomography lacks contrast resolution and involves the use of ionizing radiation, it should not be the method of choice in such cases. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has come to play an increasingly greater role in patients with penile emergencies, particularly when the ultrasound findings are inconclusive.
